Damn tired of writing obits :(

...and this weekend, there are too damned many deserving of 'em, too. So let's just note that three giants are no longer with us:

Senator Eugene McCarthy (89),
Richard Pryor (65),
Robert Sheckley (77)

-- and hope that when we personally shuffle off this mortal coil, we'll have left the tiniest fragment of the work they did. Particularly (bless you, Gene!) the latter two.

Gene McCarthy actually was what John McCain is taken for, these days; Richard Pryor all you guys know already; and Bob Sheckley was a comic genius who wrote, among other things, the astonishing short story collection, Can You Feel Anything When I Do This?, which helped get the likes of Phil Farber and me into writing in the first place.

Yea, verily, let us go and do likewise. Beats the hell out of whining.
