Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
As most of you are aware, this is one of the busiest days of the year for yours truly -- particularly when (as this year) both the Spirit rite (Invocation of Horus) and Fire rite (Vernal Equinox*, Festival of Dominion) fall on the same day. Then too, the Order's five year period of Silence has four more years to run. All things considered, I won't have a lot to say here today.
For those who didn't know, March 20 is that day of each calendar year when the Order's Current is renewed. Having passed from Kether (Spirit, Horus, 20 March) through Chokmah (Fire, Dominion, Vernal Equinox), Binah (Water, Love, Summer Solstice), Tiphareth (Air, Peace, Autumnal Equinox), and finally Malkuth (Earth, Change, Winter Solstice), the Current is fully depleted...and it is the task of Initiates to climb the Tree of Life once again, rising through the spheres by means of the Horus Invocation: to rend the veil, unite with God, and bring a new year's Current into manifestation.
So, y'know, hold onto your hats 'n' stuff. :)
How distant now seem those days, a scant eleven years ago, when one could scarcely imagine profound outward change -- in the short term, anyway -- in the formulas by which most people live. Surely Crowley's dream of human renewal was just that, a dream: something reserved for a few idle lotos-eaters, satisfying, but without great import for the world at large. I recall quite specifically thinking, with some regret, that it would be a very long time before anything like "the sixties" could happen again...if only because such times require quite abysmally stupid leaders, making a succession of quite abysmally stupid decisions, before the great herd will bestir itself to allow -- much less make! -- significant change.
Aum...and likewise Ha! :0
Anyway, things to be done. I leave you with some apposite and much-loved words of St. Algernon Charles Swinburne (excerpted from the "When the Hounds of Spring" chorus in his Atalanta in Calydon):
For winter's rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins.
Love is the law, love under will.
Yours in Love and Freedom, THETA
