Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
As history so bloodily records, from time to time some religious folks declare war on the spirituality of others -- either from fanatical attempts at spiritual monopoly, or from fear of losing their own influence (or both, I suppose). Numerous absolutist sects, large and small and in many different faiths, are making some such gestures these days, all over the world...and while I am not so foolish as to underestimate the potential dangers to humanity, I am quite certain that ignorance is not lessened by displays of bigotry, nor malice decreased by malice. Our forbears in Thelema left the following words (among many others) to guide us in such matters.
From "Liber Librae"*:
"In true religion there is no sect, therefore take heed that thou blaspheme not the name by which another knoweth his God [...]"
From "Liber Porta Lucis"**:
"[T]he religions of the world are but symbols and veils of the Absolute Truth.[...]
"The many change and pass; the one remains. Even as wood and coal and iron burn up together in one great flame, if only that furnace be of transcendent heat; so in the alembic of this spiritual alchemy, if only the zelator blow sufficiently upon his furnace all the systems of earth are consumed in the One Knowledge."
I do not disdain the spiritual yearnings of any man or woman on earth. For whatever it's worth, I urge such respect upon all others, in the strongest possible terms.
Love is the law, love under will.
Yours in Love and Freedom, THETA
