Last February ( http://www.livejournal.com/users/ajrose93/27106.html ), I posted about how living on two timelines -- one in the real world, one in 1973 EV for In The Nightmare Village -- messes up my relationship with the magical calendar (particularly since ITNV is plotted in line with the annual quarter rituals). Shortly thereafter, I thought it would be cool to do a post when I "caught up," as it were -- when the date I was writing about in 1973 coincided with the date in the real world.
So finally April 22 rolls around in the real world, which happens to be the 1973 date my characters are currently living in...and wouldn't you know it, one of them is herself in the middle of writing a flashback, to the late Fifties, early Sixties. Rats!
Soon enough my characters will be back on their 1973 timeline, and (after a possible brief overlap) instead of being ahead of the curve -- writing about April in February, say -- I'll be behind the curve again, writing about April in May, and ever losing ground thereafter....
Is it any wonder writers are notoriously wobbly in dealing with the real world? TILLLLLT!
